Connected Email Accounts
Connecting an email account lets Inletbase send your notifications and replies from your own address instead of a generic one. It is also required for forms to work, so it is worth setting up early. You manage this under Settings, on the Connected Accounts screen.
Your forms need at least one connected email account to accept submissions. If none is connected, submissions are turned away, so connect one before you go live.
Why connect your own email
When emails go out from your own account, they come from your address and domain, which looks more trustworthy to your visitors and tends to land in the inbox rather than spam. It also means replies come back to you directly.
Which providers you can connect
You can connect popular email services like Gmail, Outlook or Office 365, Yahoo, and Zoho, or use custom SMTP to connect almost any provider. More providers, including transactional services, are being added over time.
Connect an account
- On the Connected Accounts screen, click Connect Account.
- Pick your email service from the list.
- Sign in or enter your details. Some providers, like Outlook, send you to their own sign-in page to approve access. Others ask for your email and a password or key.
- Finish connecting, and the account appears in your list.
A note on passwords: providers like Gmail, Yahoo, and Zoho need an app password rather than your normal one. You generate it in that provider's security settings, then paste it into Inletbase.
Set a default account
If you connect more than one account, mark one as the Default with the Set Default button. The default is what Inletbase sends from unless a specific form is set to use a different account. Connected accounts also show a Verified badge once they are ready to send.
Remove an account
Click the trash icon next to an account and confirm to remove it. Make sure another account is connected if your forms are live, so submissions keep working.
Where your connected email is used
Once connected, your account sends your form notifications and any AI auto-replies, and it powers chatbot lead notifications too. You choose which account a form uses in that form's Email Configuration, and the message those emails send is written in the Email Editor. Chatbot notifications pick a connected account in Chatbot Settings.
