Chatbot Settings & Notifications

The Settings screen is where you manage the basics of your chatbot: its name, website, and status, who gets notified about new chats, and the option to delete it. This guide covers each setting and what it does.

Where settings live

Open your chatbot and click Settings under Configuration in the left sidebar. Settings has two tabs, General and Notifications. Changes you make are saved with the Save Changes button at the top of the page.

General tab

The General tab holds the core details of your chatbot:

  • Chatbot Name: the name you and your team see. You can change this any time.
  • Slug: the chatbot's unique id. It is shown here but cannot be changed, because it is part of your embed code and API. It is set once when you create the chatbot.
  • Website URL: the address of the site where the chatbot is used.
  • Status: a switch to set the chatbot active or disabled. When active, it is live and accepting messages. When disabled, it will not appear on your website. See the deploying guide for more on this.
  • The date the chatbot was created, for your reference.

The chatbot name cannot be empty. If you clear it, Inletbase asks you to add one before saving.

Notifications tab

The Notifications tab lets you keep track of new chats by email.

  • Notification Emails: add one or more email addresses. Inletbase emails these addresses when a new chat starts, so you never miss a conversation. Type an address and press Enter to add it, and add as many as you need.
  • Email Provider (optional): choose who the notification is sent from. By default it is the Inletbase system email. If you have connected and verified your own email account, you can pick it here so alerts come from your own domain.

To send from your own email, you first connect an email account. See email configuration for how to set that up. Connected accounts are shared across Inletbase, so the same account works for your forms and your chatbots.

Deleting a chatbot

At the bottom of the General tab is a Danger Zone with a Delete Chatbot button. Deleting is permanent. It removes the chatbot, its settings, and all of its training data, and it cannot be undone. To protect against mistakes, Inletbase asks you to confirm in a dialog before anything is deleted.

Saving your changes

After editing any setting, click Save Changes at the top of the page. Settings apply as soon as you save. Unlike training data, changing settings does not need a retrain.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I change the chatbot name?

Open your chatbot, go to Settings, and edit the Chatbot Name on the General tab. Click Save Changes to keep it.

Can I change the Agent ID or slug later?

No. The slug is fixed once the chatbot is created because it is used in your embed code and API. You can change the name any time, but not the slug.

How do I get notified when someone chats?

On the Notifications tab, add one or more email addresses under Notification Emails. Inletbase emails those addresses when a new chat starts.

Can notifications come from my own email address?

Yes. If you have connected and verified an email account, pick it as the email provider. Otherwise, notifications are sent from the default Inletbase system email.

What happens when I delete a chatbot?

Deleting is permanent. It removes the chatbot, its settings, and all its training data, and it cannot be undone. You confirm in a dialog before it happens.
