Troubleshooting & FAQ

Something not working as expected? Most issues have a quick fix. Find your problem below, or reach out to us at hello@inletbase.com.

Forms

My form isn't submitting

The most common cause is a missing or wrong API key. Your script tag must include your key: data-api-key="YOUR_API_KEY". Without it, the browser console shows a "Missing API key" message.

Also check that data-inletbase-form exactly matches your form slug. A wrong slug returns a "Form not found" error. Copy both from the form's Integration guide.

It says "submitted" but I don't get an email

Open your form's email settings and make sure at least one notification email is set. Then check your spam folder.

If a hidden anti-spam field was filled in, the submission is dropped on purpose and no email is sent. This is rare and only affects bots or the occasional autofill.

"Domain is not whitelisted" error

You've added Allowed Domains to the form, and the website sending the submission isn't on the list. Add your site's domain (for example, example.com) in the form's deploy settings, or remove the restriction.

"Too many requests" (rate limited)

To block spam and abuse, submissions are limited to 30 per minute from one visitor and 120 per minute per API key. Wait a minute and try again. If you hit this during normal use, contact us.

"Payload too large"

A single submission can't exceed 5 MB. Reduce the size of any attached content and submit again.

I've reached my submission limit

Each plan includes a set number of submissions per month (100 on Starter, more on paid plans). You can upgrade your plan or wait for the next billing cycle.

My form is built in Framer or a page builder

Our script also works with button-based forms (like Framer). Just make sure each input has a name. Even easier: use our Framer or WordPress integration and skip the code.

AI Chatbots

The chat bubble isn't showing on my site

Check the embed code first. The correct snippet uses src="https://api.inletbase.com/widget/chatbot.js" with data-chatbot-id (copy it from the chatbot's Deploy tab).

The widget only loads on domains you've approved. Add your website's domain to the chatbot's Allowed Domains. Also make sure the chatbot has finished training and is set to active.

The chatbot says it doesn't know, or gives wrong answers

Your chatbot only answers using the content you give it. Add more sources (website links, files, text, or question-and-answer pairs), then wait for training to finish. See Chatbot Deployment.

My training file won't upload

Supported file types are PDF, TXT, DOCX, and XLSX, up to 5 MB each. The number of files per chatbot depends on your plan.

Emails & AI Replies

The AI auto-reply didn't send

Check that auto-reply is enabled on the form, that the submitter actually provided an email address, and that you still have AI credits left this month. Learn more in AI Auto-Replies.

Emails land in spam

Set your emails to come from your own domain so they look trusted. See Email Configuration.

Account & Workspace

I'm being asked to set up two-factor authentication

Your organization has turned on a required-MFA policy. Follow the prompt to enroll two-factor authentication and continue.

I can't invite more team members

Team size is set by your plan (1 on Starter, 3 on Pro, 5 on Business, 8 on Enterprise). Upgrade to add more seats.

I can't see Team, API keys, or Settings

Those areas are available to Admins. Members have access to forms, chatbots, submissions, and analytics. See Team Management.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find my API key?
Open any form in your dashboard and go to its Integration guide, or the API Keys area in settings. The key starts with "ib_live_". No-code integrations (WordPress, Webflow, Framer) create and use a key for you automatically.
Where is my chatbot embed code?
Open your chatbot and go to the Deploy tab. Copy the snippet shown there. Your chatbot ID is already filled in. Paste it into your website just before the closing </body> tag.
Do I need to write any code?
No. If your site is on WordPress, Webflow, or Framer, you can connect it in a few clicks using our plugin or app. Pasting a small snippet is only needed for custom or hand-built sites.
Why was my submission dropped silently?
Inletbase adds a hidden anti-spam field (called a honeypot). If it gets filled in, which is usually a bot and sometimes a password manager, the submission is quietly dropped and no email is sent. Real visitors are not affected.
What are the submission and AI credit limits?
They depend on your plan. Starter includes 100 submissions and 20 AI credits per month; paid plans include more. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.
